The Pali term bhavana-maya panna means experiential wisdom.
To ensure a comfortable and productive course at the centre for yourself and your fellow students, please see the items listed below.
We provide one duvet, one pillow and two blankets.
Please bring: a sheet, a pillowcase and a duvet cover.
Please don’t bring: a sleeping bag.
We provide meditation cushions and blankets.
Please bring: your own cushion or blanket if you prefer to use them.
Please bring: a warm jacket, a rainproof coat and/or umbrella, a warm hat, warm gloves, warm socks, sweaters or shawls, boots or wellies and slippers.
Please don’t bring: shorts, tank tops, transparent, tight or revealing clothing; bring leggings or tights only if they will be covered to the knee by a skirt or dress.
Please note: you will need enough clothing for your entire stay and all items should be modest, as described in the Code of Discipline.
Please bring: a towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, unscented deodorant, shampoo, shaving kit, sanitary supplies.
Please don’t bring: perfumes, aftershave, scented creams, scented powders or any other products that smell strongly.
Please bring: a travel clock, torch (with spare batteries), drinking water bottle, thermos (optional).
Please note: If you bring any of the following to the centre you will be asked to place them in a locker and will not have access to them until the end of the course.
You will not be able to use a mobile phone or smart watch as an alarm clock. Furs, leather or animal skins are not permitted in the meditation hall.
Property is kept at the centre at your own risk. Neither Vipassana Trust nor Vipassana Trust (Dhamma Sukhakari) is liable for any loss or damage to property, however caused. The required items that have been listed cover all seasons. Please bring items appropriate for the season. Rain gear is always advisable.
